Kootenay Knit and Apparel has relaunched its Pink Ribbon Mitten Campaign, aiming to sell 10,000 pairs by the end of the month to benefit the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS).
“About 10 years ago we launched the pink ribbon mittens to support breast cancer causes, and this year we teamed up with the Canadian Cancer Society again and we are donating $2 from each pair of mittens sold to the Canadian Cancer Society.” said Shauna Lemens, Marketing Manager at Kootenay Knit and Apparel.
The Pink Ribbon Mittens, with their eye-catching pink yarn, are especially important during the month of October. One in eight Canadian women can expect to receive a breast cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. The Canadian Cancer Society has been a leader in driving progress, investing over $53 million in research over the past five years.
Today, 89 per cent of women and 76per cent of men diagnosed with breast cancer survive for at least five years post-diagnosis, a testament to ongoing advancements in treatment and care.
The group is aiming to contribute a minimum of $30,000 in this year’s campaign.
