After a week of preseason action, the Beaver Valley Nitehawks lead the Neil Murdoch division with four wins. Grand Forks also remains undefeated after three games.
Meanwhile, Nelson has won one out of four and Castlegar has lost both of its games.
The regular season in the KIJHL will start next weekend, but here is s wrap up of Wednesday’s games.
Nelson Leafs defeat Kimberley Dynomiters 5-4: Nelson has found their first win of the pre-season with a narrow victory over Kimberley on Wednesday.
Leafs’ Elijah Kim got the visitors on the board with their first goal deep into the second half of the first period, as Nelson led 1-nil.
In the second period, Kimberley came our firing with Spencer Wilkinson finding the net during a power play to level the score.
Meanwhile, teammate Danik Reeves followed suit 30 seconds after to put the home side in front.
Nelson responded close behind, sinking three before the break off Rayne Jameson, Avery Hewson on the power play and Quinn Ramsay.
In the third, the Dynamiters tried to claw back the games with Justin Sommer finding a double, but it was Nelson who came out of top with Caryn Crawford sinking the Leafs fifth goal for the win.
Grand Forks Border Bruins beat Osoyoos Coyotes 5-4: The Bruins have kept their winning streak going with a closer game against the Coyotes.
The Bruins came out early with Levi Astill finding his first the game inside 5 minutes, and the only goal for the first period.
Into the second, the Bruins managed to keep the host team quiet while they sunk another two with Brandon Gray and JP Desabrais, but the Coyotes fought back with three nets before the end of the period thanks to Austin Cooper’s double and one from Matthieu Lessard.
Tied at three a piece heading into the final period, it was still anyone’s game.
Just before 8 minutes, Brandon Gray secured his second goal for the game, quickly matched by the Coyotes’ Curtiss Gordon for his first of the pre-season.
Four-a-piece saw the teams head into overtime, where Levi Astill placed in his second goal for the games just 34 seconds in for the win for the Bruins.
Beaver Valley Nitehawks defeat Castlegar Rebels 4-2: The Rebels have been dealt another loss as they faced up against the Nitehawks in Fruitvale on Wednesday.
The Rebel’s Jace Kramer was the only player to find the net in the first period, giving the visitors an early lead.
In the second, the Nitehawks’ Roan Crowe found an early goal in the period, with teammate Own Dickson not far behind to push the home side out in front.
The Rebel’s responded with Jordan Brunham levelling the score two-a-piece, with one period remaining.
The Nitehawks ran away with the game in the final period, keeping the Rebels scoreless, as Marcus Cyr and Luke Biletsky sunk two more goals for the win.
