It was mixed bag of results for the KIJHL’s exhibition games across the region.

Friday Night Match Up

Revelstoke defeated Nelson 3-2: In a game of back-and-forth, Revelstoke came out on top in their game against the Leafs.

Revelstoke took an early 1-nil lead in the first period, only to have the Leafs respond with Quinn Ramsay and Connor Hovelkamp finding the next twice early in the second period.

The Leafs led 2-1 heading into the final period but couldn’t hold out the Grizzlies as brought home another two goals to take the win 3 to 2.

Players of the match went to the Grizzlies’ Keelan Wyke and Nelson’s Quinn Ramsay.

Beaver Valley Nitehawks defeat Creston Valley Thunder Cats 4-1: Quick off the mark, the Nitehawks took their first goal of the evening in just 38 seconds, and it was all downhill from there for Beaver Valley.

Following Nolan Zanussi’s early net, Beaver Valley added another two points to the board in the second period through Brock Robertson for a double.

The third period saw the Nitehawks Owen Dickson find the net for their final goal of the night, while Creston’s Utah Oler responded with the Cats only goal for the game.

Beaver Valley took the win 4 to 1.

Saturday Night Match Up

Grand Forks Border Bruins defeat Osoyoos Coyotes 8 -2: The Border Bruins have kept their winning streak going, downing the Coyotes 8 to 2 on Saturday night.

The Bruins took the lead early with two points in the first period to Russell Kosec and Levi Astill, keeping Osoyoos scoreless heading into the second period.

They kept the pressure on finding the net another four times through Tyson Carter, Brandon Gray, Theo Naidu and Juston Mol, before Coyotes’ Kyle Cyr found the scoreboard for his fist goal.

Heading to the final period, Bruins led 6 to 1. Astill found the net for his second of the games, followed closely by Brandon Gray.

Coyotes’ Garret Kurtz popped in the final goal for the games, handing another win to the Bruins, 8 to 2.

Revelstoke Grizzlies defeat Nelson Leafs 4-1: Nelson couldn’t claw back a win from the Grizzlies, going down 4 to 2 on Saturday night.

The game was tightly contended with both sides finding the net in the first period. Nelson’s Rylan Konecsni and Grizzlies’ Cole Gartner kept their teams in it, as the score remained equal, one-all heading into the final period, where Revelstoke ran away with it.

In the final minutes of the games, Revelstoke’s Garis Meddeb found the net back-to-back, while teammate Keelan Wyke scored the final goal of the games, and claiming the win for the Grizzlies, 4 to 1.

Beaver Valley Nitehawks defeat Creston Valley Thunder Cats 4 to 2: The Nitehawks didn’t let up when they faced Creston again.

Nitehawks’ Owen Dickson found the net within the first minute, putting Creston on the chase.

The Thunder Cats responded with Dryden Harding sinking his first for the pre-season.

Heading into the second period one-all, Nitehawks’ Boris Hristov put the visitors in front, 2 to 1.

In the final period, Hristov found his second early on in the period, while the Thunder Cats’ Bradly Boyarski tried to keep his team in the game adding to the scoreboard.

Nitehawks’ Brock Robertson sunk the final goal of the game with just 15 seconds remaining, giving the visitors a 4 -2 win.
