Bruins defeat Leafs in Exhibition match

The Grand Forks Border Bruins kept Nelson Leafs scoreless with an 8-nil win in last night’s exhibition match, in Nelson.

The Bruins’ Jace Koole found the net in the first period but were denied their second goal in the dying seconds before the break.

Coming into the second period, Tyler Bourke stretched the visitor’s lead to two goals 10 minutes in, before the Bruins’ Jace Koole and Leafs’ Leighton Partington got ejected from the game for fighting.

The flood gates opened as the Bruins found the net another three times by Justin Mol, Ashton Schram and Russell Kosec.

The Bruins led 5-0 heading into the final period, which they didn’t ease up, securing another three goals by Hunter Paterson, Russell Kosec for his second of the night, and Nate Tillmanns.

The Bruins took to the game 8 to 0, with 36 shots on goal to Nelson’s 12.

Player of the game went to Grand Fork’s Nate Tillmanns and Nelson Leafs Leighton Partington.
