The Nelson Police Department is urging anyone with information on the alleged sexual assaults near Art Gibbons Park and the Nelson Skateboard Park to come forward.
NPD said in a press release that as of now, no one has come forward to report any of the assaults, although many community members have taken to social media to report the incidents and warn the community.
The detachment said that they take all reports of sexual assaults seriously and encourage anyone who has experienced or witnessed the incidents to come forward, as reporting such incidents is crucial for initiating investigations and ensuring the safety of the community.
“We believe you,” emphasizes Inspector Kris Rice. “Our officers are trained in trauma-informed practice and are here to support you through the reporting process.”
The suspect is described on social media as a 6’4″ male in his mid-20s with blonde hair and a strong build.

The Nelson Police Department says there have been no reported assaults in Nelson’s Rosemont neighborhood, despite reports circulating on social media.
Over the weekend, individuals took to social media to warn residents living in the Rosemont area of two assaults that allegedly occurred near the Rosemont skatepark within the last month.
A post in one of the city’s community Facebook pages alleged that the incidents happened after dark, and that the perpetrator hadn’t been found yet.
However, when Vista Radio reached out to the Nelson Police Department for a comment, Chief Constable Donovan Fisher said no one has come forward to file a report.
“There does not appear to be any basis for the other alleged occurrences mentioned. Nothing has been reported to police and we are not conducting any investigations related to an assault or assaults in the Rosemont neighborhood.”
Fisher adds that if there is any validity to the claims, the detachment would like to hear from about them.
