The Nelson Police Department has cleared the scene at L.V Rogers Secondary School following a bomb threat.
Chief Donovan Fisher said the school received the threat over the phone, but didn’t say when it was called in. Â
All students and staff were evacuated as a precaution. Police and fire crews conducted a sweep of the building and concluded it clear by 2:45 p.m.Â
The city said the school has been turned back over to staff and faculty, with School District 8 stating that classes will resume as normal tomorrow morning.
“Every threat made to a school, whether as a phone call, social media post or graffiti tag on a wall, is taken very seriously,” said SD8 superintendent Trish Smillie.
“If the public has any information about this incident, please contact the Nelson Police. These incidents take a tremendous number of resources from the district and from the police to investigate and to determine the source of the threat.”
