Kootenays, B.C. – The province is trying to improve the mapping and signage of snowmobile routes in the region.
Snowmobiling is a popular winter activity with over 200,000 rides each season according to the province.
Now, the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development has put out a survey with questions on what snowmobilers think of the information at the trailheads.
Trish Drinkle, long time snowmobile advocate and North America ambassador for manufacturer Polaris says the survey indicates a success from the snowmobile community in its relations with the province.
“I truly believe they are starting to listen to what we are saying. This is a positive move forward”, she told My Nelson Now.
“I think we have struggled for a long time with signage. A lack of signage, messaging that was not clear as far as signage… So our hopes are that we get clear messaging, especially for newcomers who come into these riding areas”, Trish Drinkle says.
The survey will be conducted online and has a July 14 deadline.
