Pat Henman receives award for community contributions

An individual who has made a significant impact on Nelson’s vibrant culture was honoured this week. Patricia Henman is an actress and director who moved to the community 19 years ago from Dawson City and immediately became involved with the Capitol Theatre.

The Cultural Development Commission recommended her for a Special Citation which was presented at City Hall this week.

“I got a little emotional about it, I know, but you might only get it once in your whole life. It was special for me as and artist, but special for me as a person, for sure to be recognized for the work I’ve done, all these years,” Henman says.

She’s been involved in theatre for 40 years now since her first play in Halifax at the age of 20.

Her next project is directing Mamma Mia which hits the stage in May.
