New regional park in Crawford Bay moving ahead

The Regional District of Central Kootenay is moving ahead with a new regional park in Crawford Bay. The Board of Directors gave first three readings to a loan authorization bylaw last week to purchase the lands.  Area A Director Garry Jackman says it’s just the first step in the process.

Jackman says the loan is for over $2-million with a contribution from the Columbia Basin Trust.

He says the land is currently owned by Kokanee Springs Resort, but has been utilized by the public for many years.

The new park would include roughly 70 hectares of land surrounding the Crawford bay beach and wetlands area.

The Regional District of Central Kootenay has moved ahead with plans to create a new regional park along the Crawford Bay beach and wetlands.
