The City of Nelson continues to monitor Kootenay Lake levels. Fire Chief Len McCharles says they’ve activated the City’s Emergency Operations Centre to help.
Levels are expected to reach those seen in 2012, which means the sports fields and airport area could flood in Nelson. The dog walk has already been closed.
Chief McCharles says they’ve started some preparations, but it’s not an easy area to cover.
If people have experienced flooding from high creeks or lake levels in the past, Chief McCharles says to take action, including removing items from your basement.
