Multi-Sport Complex will move ahead this spring

Work will start for a multi-sport complex in Nelson in May.

The Nelson Tennis Club received over $126,000 towards the project recently from the Columbia Basin Trust’s recreation infrastructure grants.

Angus Glass is a director for the Tennis Club.

He says they have a lot of work to do preparing the site behind L.V. Rogers High School.

Glass says there’s also some old tree trunks in the area that are a fire hazard and need to be removed.

He says the funds are a huge help to kick things off.

Glass says they hope to develop a Tennis Academy for the high-performance young players and be able to host sanctioned tournaments in Nelson.

School District 8 has also provided $104,000 towards the project.
