Freezing Rain Warning in effect for Kootenay Pass

A freezing rain warning is in effect for the West Kootenay area.

Environment Canada is warning of freezing rain over the Kootenay Pass to Paulson Pass.

The warning says:

‘An approaching Pacific system is spreading warm, moist air over a thin layer of arctic air trapped in the southern interior valleys this morning. Precipitation will fall as freezing rain initially then quickly transition back to snow or rain as a cooler air moves in aloft.’

It also says to prepare to adjust driving to rapidly changing winter conditions.
