A new log boom will be installed on BC Hydro’s Kootenay Canal starting next February or March.
Spokeswoman Mary Anne Coules says its purpose is to protect the canal’s intake from any floating debris.
Coules says the new boom will also have extra safety features including improved signage and markings.
That should help boaters avoid the area.
