The top Mountie in our area admits he could use more officers, particularly for the Nelson detachment.
The issue was raised recently when inspector Tom Roy met with the Regional District of Central Kootenay board.
Roy says he wishes they had more than six officers to cover the rural areas surrounding Nelson.
But Roy says police services across the country have staffing challenges.
