Trail anticipates Bridge referendum in mid-August

The City of Trail anticipates a referendum will be held in mid-August asking residents to vote on a proposed utilities/pedestrian bridge.

This following an effort from petitioners that collected signatures from at least 10% of citizens who opposed the City spending $5.8 million on a new crossing.

Corporate Administrator Michelle McIsaac says forms with more than 1200 signatures were received and staff went through a thorough validation process.

Council voted to submit a loan bylaw to pay for the proposed bridge to province and must hold a referendum within 80 days of approval.

The RDKB will move ahead on the construction of a crucial sewage pipe crossing.
