Marathon session as Nelson groups make CBT funding pitch

A marathon session at Nelson council chambers Monday for local non-profits hoping to get some Columbia Basin Trust funding.

No fewer than 50 groups were scheduled to make their case for a piece of the $145,000 pie this year from Community Initiative Grants.

Here’s councilor Anna Purcell.

Nelson council will decide who gets what in the weeks ahead.

It has a loose policy of awarding 25% of the money to arts, culture and heritage projects.

The other three sectors are projects with an economic, social or environmental focus.
