Our neighbouring regional districts are pondering hiring an Agricultural Liaison Officer.
They would work with farmers, food producers and the RD’s in the Central Kootenay, Kootenay-Boundary and East Kootenay to fill the gaps left by decreasing support from the province.
The RDCK’s Sangita Sudan says citizens want the local agricultural sector to be boosted.
The liaison officer is seen as an alternative option to contracting consultants and would work on behalf of the local agriculture industry to increase education, marketing and production.
