Columbia Basin-Boundary sees gender earnings gap

The earnings gender gap in Canada is even more pronounced in the Columbia Basin-Boundary region.

Research from the Rural Development Institute shows average female earnings here are 60% of those of men.

Karoline Kemp is a Co-Director at the Nelson And District Women’s Centre.

She says these figures highlight ongoing gender inequity and she encourages everyone to learn more about their fellow community members.

Among its various services, the women’s centre offers volunteer opportunities and training to help women get into the workplace.
