South Slocan residents support the highway bridge removal project but pedestrian safety is crucial.
This from resident Colin Payne – who is also a member of the community’s Commission of Management.
A public meeting was held with ministry staff Tuesday night where the public called for a tunnel to be included when the bridge is replaced with fill. Otherwise there’ll be no safe way to cross that highway.
Payne wonders why the ministry is concerned about the extra $300,000 to $400,000 price tag.
Payne says the highway improvement will be good for South Slocan but regular pedestrian access and safety needs to be retained.
