It appears the leg-work has been done to ensure Castlegar sees a dramatic drop in human wildlife conflicts.
Jenny Wallace with Wildsafe BC says the commitment from city council to move to a bi-weekly waste collection schedule – with savings from lower operating costs paying for bear resistant bins – will go a long way to reducing such altercations.

The city has committed to allocating funds to have a Wildsafe program in place this year, which Wallace expects to be in operation by April.
That’s also when the new bins are expected to arrive.
