Phase one of renovations to the South Columbia Search and Rescue (SAR) branch in Fruitvale is underway.
President Mike Hudson says the old Legion building which houses them was starting to show it’s age.They have secured $35,000 in funding to do the necessary work for phase one and are looking to raise more funds for phase two which will cost around $112,000.
Hudson says phase two will include a new garage to store their equipment, which will greatly increase response time.
