Hospital reps to mull funding options

Our representatives on the Hospital Board will consult with their councils and regional districts before deciding how to fund big projects.

At issue is the huge future costs facing local taxpayers for upgrades to KBRH in Trail.

That means the board is pondering an increase to their current cap of $10 million in the capital reserve fund, it’s currently at just over $9 million.

Board Chair Marguerite Rotvold explians.

The upgrades at the hospital in Trail will cost around $40 million with local taxpayers forking out $16 million.

But there are other costs coming like a multi million dollar upgrade at Arrow Lakes Hospital and ever-escalating annual costs for lots of other capital needs.
