Trail city council has decided to look for a more cost-effective option to replace the ageing security cameras at the airport.
Councilor Kevin Jolly serves as chair for the city’s Airport Steering Committee.
The lowest bid to replace the cameras came from Selkirk Security at $33,000. The current equipment was donated by the company.
The feeling among council is that a direct purchase of hardware to complete the job in-house will save the city a good chunk of money.
Council also approved a modest increase to the licence fees to people and organizations who own airport hangers on site.
Those fees represent just under 2% of the airport’s revenue
