The hoo-hah over the Regional District’s awarding of a contract to an out-of-area company has prompted them to appoint an independent adjudicator.
Chair John Kettle says the RDCK has great staff and 99.9% of the time they get things right.
A Nelson supplier bid on the RDCK’s new furniture, but lost out to a Victoria-based company and then went public with complaints about the bidding process.
The local company was cheaper but the RDCK says other factors played into their final decision.
Kettle says no action on the awarded contract will be taken until they get the adjudicator’s report.
