Christmas tree safety tips

Creston’s Public Safety Compliance Officer has a few tips for folks putting up a Christmas tree.

Eric Graham says a dry tree is a dangerous tree.

He says when selecting a natural tree, check that it isn’t old.

Graham says it’s also key to ensure there is water in the stand and the tree is getting adequate moisture.

And a reminder for people venturing onto crown land to chop down a tree.

You must obtain a Free Use Permit from a Front Counter BC Office or the BC government website.
