RDCK is turning 50

The Regional District Of Central Kootenay is marking a milestone.

It’s turning 50 years old.

On Monday the public can use any of the four rec centres at Nelson, Castlegar, Salmo and Creston for just 50 cents.

Corporate Officer Anitra Winje says they have other special things planned.


There’ll be a virtual scrapbook and an online quiz as well.

Back in 1965 the RDCK employed two staff with a $39,000 budget.

Now it employs 350 people with a budget of over $55 million.
