Local activists welcome US Keystone pipeline rejection

A Nelson-based anti-pipeline activist is applauding the decision handed down from US President Barack Obama regarding the Keystone XL pipeline.

Obama formally rejected the plan Friday saying it did not serve the national interests of the us.

Keith Wiley has demonstrated against the Enbridge pipeline in a number of communities as a member of Kootenays for a Pipeline-Free BC.

Wiley believes Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will stick to his promise of not allowing oil tankers off the BC coast so that would doom Enbridge as well.
