Nelson’s old Civic Arena will open a week later than expected this season as it undergoes some urgent repairs.
A few issues have been discovered with the 80 year old heritage venue’s foundation as well as with lead-based paint and mold.
Mayor Deb Kozak says while necessary, this project was not part of the original upgrade plan.
Work on the roof will have to wait.
