The site of the old fire hall in Kaslo will be redeveloped as a garden with an outdoor reading space and public art.
Village Administrator Neil Smith says the decision follows an online poll.
The village is now looking for someone to design the space.
The old fire hall was demolished last year shortly after the new one opened.
