Visscher adds that she has spent time working with the Greens before the election to spread to word about the party.

“Over the past year, as CEO of the North-Okanagan Shuswap Green Party EDA (electoral district association), I’ve expanded our board by over 75%, strengthening our movement for real change,” said Visscher.

The Issues: Cost of Living, Sustainability and Climate Adaptation

Visscher says she got involved in politics to focus government action on economic and environmental issues.

“I am running for the Green Party because I believe that a better future is not only possible—it’s within our reach,” said Visscher.

“With the right leadership, we can address the cost of living crisis while protecting the environment, ensuring a sustainable and prosperous future for all.”

Visscher says proper and well-funded climate adaptation is vital for the country’s stability.

“If elected, I will work to support local farmers in adapting to climate change, because they are the backbone of our past, present, and future,” said Visscher.

“I will also fight for real solutions to the housing and cost-of-living crisis, ensuring that everyone in our community has access to affordable housing and essential services.”

Visscher says she hopes for a future where communities are stronger and more prepared for the challenges of climate change.

“My vision for Vernon-Lake Country-Monashee includes better public transportation, resilient communities prepared for drought and wildfires, and a shift toward proactive, sustainable policies,” said Visscher.

Final Thoughts

Visscher feels the Green Party is ready and able to help Canadians take on and adapt to climate change.

“The challenges we face require bold action, but they also present opportunities,” said Visscher.

“By implementing the Green Party’s vision, we can build a future where we take care of each other, protect our environment, and create new opportunities for generations to come.”

The federal election will take place on April 28th.
