Whitewater’s annual Kootenay Coldsmoke Powderfest brough the snow this weekend, with over 30 cm dropping down and plenty of skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts to enjoy it.
“The literal cold smoke actually ended up delivering, we got 13 centimeters overnight on Friday and another 21 centimeters overnight on Saturday, and this storm is not even done yet.” said Kyle Caçador-Florence, Brand Director.
The event dished up plenty of clinics, competitions and snow activity culture for locals and visitors, and opportunities to try something new.
“The clinics have been amazing, competitions have been next level and a lot of boards and skis are flying out for demos.” said Kyle.
“They’re getting to try new gear because we all know that ski and snowboard gear is not always the cheapest thing and it’s hard to pull the trigger and commit to this gear if you don’t know how you’re going to ride on it.”
“So it’s been really cool to see people coming and trying all sorts of different fantastic brands and different equipment and trying to get a feel for what they want to make for their next purchase and it’s been really cool to see how much people have gotten out of the clinics.”
The action continued today, Monday February 24, with the Research and Development competition kicking off, an all women back country snowboard event.
