Kaslo residents invited to be part of future planning

Kaslo residents are invited to have their say on where council should be focusing their attention for the next two years, with village’s strategic priorities to be presented to the community on Tuesday, February 3, at the Heritage Hall.

Mayor Suzan Hewat says the event provides a casual setting to discuss the future direction of the village and to build a community that is safe and resilient, livable and accessible, and vibrant and connected while also delivering organizational excellence.

“We’re going to be discussing improvements to our water treatment plant, work on the Kembo Memorial Centre, the development plan for the south of Kaslo, not South Beach, but some lands that the village owns south of Kaslo, Fire Smart Program and our RCMP.” said Mayor Hewat.

“We’ve been advocating for a fourth member for our detachment for a number of years, and we’re hoping that that will finally bear fruit in the coming years.”

“This is your chance to give your input prior to us making our budget decisions.”

“Staff go to the effort of putting these presentations together so the public can know in advance what we anticipate spending money on in the coming year. If we’re way off base, then this is their opportunity to either say, we don’t agree with that or ask for the rationale for us putting those items on our budgets.”
