Kaslo’s controversial South Beach RV Park proposal edges closer to a decision

Kaslo’s controversial South Beach RV Park development proposal has survived back-to-back council meetings this week, as the Village of Kaslo councillors defer the final decision another two weeks.

Kaslo councillors voted unanimously on the recommendation read by Mayor Suzan Hewat.

“A decision regarding the RV Park, our proposal conditions of purchase and sale agreement be deferred until the additional information identified by council that the 2024 special meeting can be presented.” said Mayor Suzan Hewat.

Additional information has been requested for legality around concerns with the OCP, the developer’s intentions with strata and water access via a dock.

Council received a number of letters from the community, both in support and opposed to the proposal, for consideration.

The final decision will face council on January 28.

Village of Kaslo Special Meeting- January 13

The Village of Kaslo held a special meeting on Monday, January 13, where council staff have been directed to obtain the following information:

  • Clarity regarding the interpretation of the DPA requirements and whether and RC Park is permitted within the area of the Lakefront protection DPA.
  • Boat launch proposal and water dock.
  • Create and make public an outline of the steps to follow and the implications of decisions at different stages.
