Nelson has been named the best place to grab coffee in British Columbia, according to new data.
Second best across Canada, if we were to be competitive… and we are.
The research, by Jackpot City, looked at the number of coffee shops and cafes in every Canadian city and town and compared this to the local population, to reveal where local coffee lovers have the best chance of finding their daily caffeine fix – and which city is falling short.
In 2025, Nelson took the title of second-best coffee capital in Canada, with 9.0 coffee shops per 10,000 residents.
Locals in Nelson have the second-highest chance of finding a barista-made coffee compared to other cities and towns in Canada, followed closely by Cobourg, Ontario, in third place.
Topping the list in first place is Canmore in Southern Alberta, with 9.5 coffee shops per 10,000 residents.
On the other end of the scale, Toronto in Ontario was revealed as the worst city for coffee lovers, due to its large population nearing 7 million which spreads coffee shops thin for locals – with just 0.2 coffee shops available per 10,000 of the population.
