The average rent in Nelson went up slightly in 2024.
According to data from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, the average rent in Nelson as of October 2024 was $1,113, a $6 increase from 2023’s average of $1,119:
- Bachelor: $763 in 2024, $750 in 2023
- One-bedroom: $1,004 in 2024, $990 in 2023
- Two-bedroom: $1,278 in 2024, $1,255 in 2023
The city’s vacancy rate also dropped to 0.2 per cent from 0.8 per cent in 2023.
Across the province, the average rent went up by $97 from $1,655 in 2023 to $1,752 in 2024:

- Bachelor: $1,456 in 2024, $1,358 in 2023 (+7.2%)
- One-bedroom: $1,627 in 2024, $1,558 in 2023 (+4.4%)
- Two-bedroom: $1,981 in 2024, $1,867 in 2023 (+6.1%)
- Three-bedroom+: $2,474 in 2024, $2,146 in 2023 (+15.2%)
In Trail, the average rent went up to $893, an increase of $167 from the year prior.
