Nelson welcomes first baby of 2025

The first baby born in Nelson this year was a boy!

According to Interior Health, he was born at 6:53 a.m. on January 1, 2025. However, his parents did not consent to further information or photos.

It’s the only New Year’s baby reported so far from IH facilities in the Kootenay Boundary.

IH says it will have more information on other New Year babies born in the region in the coming days, including Trail.

Meanwhile, provincially, B.C. didn’t need to wait long to welcome the province’s first baby of 2025.
