Nelson Police urge caution after seeing uptick in overdoses

Nelson Police have reported an uptick in drug overdoses from November 17-23.

Police believe an especially dangerous drug supply has resulted in this increase and is urging the public to be cautious in the face of this threat.

The public is reminded on the dangers of using alone, especially in colder weather.

While Narcan counteracts the affects of an opioid overdose, it’s not effective against other classes of drugs. Police say many street drugs are cut with unknown substances which increases the risk of overdose.
