There was an uptick in vehicle break-and-enters last week with Nelson Police reporting that three vehicles were broken into between November 10 and 16.
In two of the three incidents, entry was gained by smashing a window.
Valuables were taken, and damage was done to the interiors of all three vehicles.
It’s unclear whether the incidents are related at this time, but NPD says they haven’t ruled it out.
Although these types of crimes aren’t always preventable, the detachment is urging that vehicle owners take the appropriate precautions to avoid becoming targets.
- Whenever possible, park in a secure and well-lit area.
- Remove all valuables from your vehicle, ensure nothing is visible through the windows, and lock your vehicle at all times.
If your vehicle is broken into, contact police and document everything that was stolen.
Nelson egg bandits still at large
Officers are still looking to determine the identities of a group of youth believed to be responsible for a series of egging incidents in the city.
Police issued their first call for assistance in identifying the group on November 8.
This week, NPD reported that several more homes and vehicles have been targeted.
Officers are pursuing several leads to identify the group responsible, including CCTV footage obtained of the suspects.
Anyone with information on this matter is asked to contact the Nelson Police Department by calling 250-354-3919 or emailing [email protected].
