YRB asks drivers to report winter road conditions directly

Winter driving conditions have started in the Kootenays, and Yellowhead Bridge and Road (YRB) is asking motorists for their help tackling poor road conditions.

Castlegar councillor Brian Bogle attended the YRB stakeholder meeting in October.

He told City Council last night (Monday) that the company would like travellers who come across a stretch of road in need of attention to call their emergency line as soon as possible, as it allows crews to address the road’s condition immediately, rather than waiting two or three days when the situation may become more difficult to resolve.

For the Kootenay Boundary, motorists can call 1-888-630-1420. For roads in the Kootenay Central region, call 1-888-352-0356.

Phones are monitored 24/7 by YRB staff.
