KIJHL Thankgiving weekend wrap up

The Castlegar Rebels split up their games over the long weekend, as Golden forced a shootout, where the Rebels were victorious 4-3.

The win was short lived, as they faced the Columbia Valley Rockies who sealed Saturday’s game with an empty netter in the 4-2 win.

Meanwhile the Beaver Valley Nitehawks was held off the scoreboard after the first period, falling to Kimberley 5-2

Creston Valley gained 3 of a possible 4 points over the weekend, with Fernie scoring with less than 30 seconds into over time to beat the Thunder Cats 4-3. Then on Saturday the Thunder Cats turned it around, scoring 5 goals in a row to give them a 6-1 smashing over Golden.

Grand Forks Border Bruins were tested over the weekend, playing 3 games in 3 nights.

Night one opened with Alex Edwards getting a hat trick in a 5-1 win over Quenel. Then Tyler Burke gets a pair of goals in a 7-1 domination over the Mustangs.

But a few costly penalties in the 3rd game heading into the final period, gave the Kamloops Storm the momentum they needed to knock off Bruins 6-3.

And finally, the Nelson Leafs get 4 of a possible 6 points on the road over the weekend. Kicking things off by beating ex-team mate Jasper Tait and the Mustangs 5-3. Saturdays game saw Nelson dominate the second period in a 6-5 win over Quenell. And then the tiredness started to set in, as they allow 3 goals in the first 8 shots against 100 Mile.

They tried to rally back scoring 3 themselves, but lose 6-3 in the final buzzer.
