KIJHL weekend wrap up

Beaver Valley has started their season off with a big win over Spokane 10-0, followed by Saturday’s defeat Creston 3-1.

The Nitehawks’ Ollie Clement is tied in league scoring with 4 points after scoring two goals int he season opening weekend.

One of the players he’s tied with is Castlegar’s Josh Gamble.

The Rebels lost both their games to the Nelson’s Leafs, but only by a goal in a 5-4 and 6-5 shootout loss.

Conner Hovelkamp had quite the debut for the Nelson Leafs, scoring a hat trick in their defeat over the Rebels on Friday night’s games. Then back in Nelson they scored 3 unanswered goals to tie the game up, before veteran Dawson Davis won the shootout.

Meanwhile, Grand Forks’ Levi Astil continues his scoring ways for the Border Bruins.

The pre-season leader in points got the game tying and final goal in the shootout to claim a 4-3 win over Princeton, and scored the game winning goal in a 6-1 win over Spokane.

Finally, Creston had a tough time on the power play, unable to score on any of their six attempts against Kimberley in a 5-2 loss before facing Beaver Valley for their second loss of the weekend.
