BC medical groups say next provincial government must do more for family doctors

BC’s doctors say whichever party forms the government after next month’s election must take more steps to attract medical professionals to our province.

The BC College of Family Physicians and BC Family Doctors say the next government should offer doctors the same basic employment and health benefits as other health care workers….things like health and dental covering, vacation time, and a pension plan.

Many family physicians don’t qualify for such coverage, since they’re considered to be self-employed.

The two groups say benefits like this would attract more doctors into family medicine.
