Original Story:

Kaslo RCMP are seeking assistance locating 42-year-old Matthew Moreau, who was reported missing on August 30.

Moreau was last seen at around 11 p.m. on August 29 in the 2100 block of Highway 31, walking east towards Kootenay Lake.

A daylight search of the area where he was last seen led to the discovery of some personal effects at the bottom of a large cliff. Police believe he may have managed to walk out but are very concerned for his well-being.

He had been on the Kootenay Lake Ferry earlier that night and may have been speaking with a man during the crossing. Officers are looking to speak with this man to aid in their investigation and locate Moreau safely.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Matthew Moreau is urged to contact their local police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
