The City of Nelson’s Garage Lead Hand, Dean Centrone, has received this year’s Rodi De Vuono Outstanding Service Award from BC Transit.
Centrone is one of seven BC Transit Superstars this year and is being recognized for his positive energy and willingness to always lend a hand.
As Garage Lead Hand, Centrone maintains the BC Transit fleet as well as the Public Works, Fire, Police, and Nelson Hydro vehicles. He’s worked for the city since 1992 and has been in his current position since 2014.
Being the recipient of this year’s Rodi De Vuono Outstanding Service Award has a personal significance to Centrone, as he and De Vuono, who also worked for the City of Nelson for more than 20 years, grew up together and were lifelong friends before De Vuono lost his battle to cancer in 2012.
Each year, BC Transit rewards and celebrates the people making positive impacts in BC’s regional transit systems. Transit Superstars are nominated by BC Transit employees, operating companies, and local government partners.
