The Nelson Police Department has made two arrests in connection with a break and enter
that occurred in the early morning hours of June 15, 2024, at Lakeside Drive gas station.
At approximately 03:46am, officers responded to a glass-break alarm at a gas station located in the 500 block of Lakeside Drive.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that the front door had been smashed with rocks.
CCTV security footage revealed two suspects entering the store, taking merchandise, and
leaving the scene.
Officers quickly identified both suspects as Silas Maccreadie and Joel Dinunzio, who are well-known to police due to their extensive histories of property crimes.
Yesterday, June 17, 2024, Maccreadie and Dinunzio were formally charged with break and enter as well as theft, and were held for a bail hearing.
Both suspects were subsequently released by the courts under strict conditions, which include no contact with one another, prohibition from possessing break-in tools, and a ban on attending the location of the incident.
Their pair will appear in again today, Tuesday, June 18.
Inspector Kris Rice of the Nelson Police Department commended the officers involved in the
investigation.
“I am proud of our officers for diligently investigating this incident and swiftly arresting both suspects. In response to a recent increase in break and enters to businesses in our community, our officers are targeting prolific offenders and taking proactive measures to curb theft and other property crimes.” said Inspector Kris Rice.
Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Nelson Police Department.
