Motorist and road users are being advised to slow down, take your time, and plan your trip, with an increase of traffic on our roads.
Trail RCMP Detachment Commander Mike Wicentowich says its no surprise we are seeing more accident as we start to see nicer weather.
“There’s road construction, motorcycles now on the road and sometimes there’s even new and learner drivers out there learning to drive.” said Wicentowich.
“We all have to be aware of each other when we are on the road. The best thing you can do is drive this speed limit, leave your cell phone inside a console. Don’t do anything while you’re driving to distract yourselves.”
“Obviously don’t drink or smoke or use any type of drug if it’s going to impair your ability to drive a vehicle.”
When on our roads, safety should be the number one priority. That means paying attention to what you and others are doing.
“Sometimes people make mistakes. So, if you have a heads up and you’re paying attention, you can probably avoid disaster.” said Wicentowich.
This week alone has seen three serious accidents on our roads, two resulting in fatalities, and is a timely reminder to be aware.

“It’s seasonal and it’s not surprising that motorcycles and people on bikes are getting into incidents with vehicles with so many people on the road.” said Wicentowich.
“This is the time people break out their bike-pedal bikes, electric bikes, motorcycles.”
“People are just cruising around because it’s summer and they’re enjoying themselves in the nice weather.”
