Nelson Police Department have arrested two people after a search warrant exposed $6,374 worth of illicit substances.
A media release from Nelson Police states that the warrant was executed on Dec. 19 at a residence at the 500 block of Ward Street.
The release says police seized 3.5 grams of cocaine, 12.8 grams of fentanyl, 21.84 grams of methamphetamine, along with a variety of prescription medication consisting of derivatives of morphine and amphetamines.
As a result, two individuals were arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The execution of this drug warrant took place the same day that Interior Health had issued a Drug Alert for Nelson due to samples indicating above average concentrations of fentanyl and benzodiazepine along with xylazine.
The Nelson Police Department would like to encourage those in the community who are aware of trafficking activity to report it to the police, either at your local law enforcement office of jurisdiction, which can be done anonymously or through services such as CrimeStoppers.
