Slocan Lake RCMP catch grinches with $15,000 worth of stolen property

One man and three women have been arrested after RCMP stopped a truck with $15,000 worth of stolen goods.

RCMP say Sunday morning, a suspicious vehicle was reported to them in the Silverton area, possibly one that had been stolen from Burton a few weeks ago.

Officers from both the Nakusp and Slocan Lake detachments went looking for it. They spotted the truck heading north on Highway 6 near Hills and stopped it at Summit Lake.

They confirmed the truck was stolen, and discovered the stolen stuff including chainsaws and an e-bike that had been swiped within the previous two days. Police say the owners of both the saws and the bike will get them back this week.

The four suspects were released on a promise to appear in court on charges of possession of stolen property.

“The engagement and support of the citizens throughout the valley were instrumental in locating this stolen vehicle and property at the same time making the Christmas season better for the owners of the property and vehicle,” Cpl. Thomas Gill said in a news release.
