RV, building burn south of Nelson

A travel trailer was destroyed and adjacent building damaged in a fire Saturday afternoon south of Nelson.

Nelson Fire and Rescue says it responded around 4:30 p.m. to the blaze at 4110 Highway 6. The first crew arrived to find the trailer fully involved and spreading.

Assistant chief Rick Maida said in a news release that while firefighters tried to keep it from spreading, “unfortunately, the adjacent building did suffer some fire, smoke, and water damage.”

Damage is estimated at $80,000. No one was injured. The cause is under investigation.

In all 16 Nelson firefighters responded, along with the North Shore, Beasley, and Blewett fire departments as well as RCMP, paramedics, and Nelson Hydro.
