Interior health has issued a drug alert for the entire health authority about cocaine containing fentanyl.
According to a media release the fentanyl is being sold as cocaine and is believed to be linked to several overdoses and fatalities across Interior Health.Â
They say they are aware of it occurring in the Central Okanagan and Kamloops area, but did not mention the Kootenays.
They say anyone using cocaine in the region is advised to take safety measures and test their substance before taking it.Â
The release suggests users find out where they can access naloxone, drug checking and other overdose prevention services in the community in order to safeguard themselves against any toxic supply.
